Exciting Times at BnA

Posted on January 29, 2008 in Work | Leave a Comment

We’ve got a ton of stuff happening at the BootsnAll office in Portland. Lots of development things going on, launching some new websites and stuff like that. Here’s a few of my favorite things that have come up lately:

  • Insiders - kind of like Yahoo answers, but for travel only. If you have a question about something travel related, here’s a great place to ask it. Also in turn, if you have lots of knowledge then here’s a great place to share it.
  • Daved, who writes for the Costa Rica site is moving to Costa Rica, so this means I should have a free place to stay when I visit, and that the site is going to get kicked into high gear!
  • Jessie, the Italy Logue writer is heading to Italy, to research moving there.
  • Donovan is putting together some really awesome adventure trips, like this one to cycle in Thailand.

How to bore your self: Watch Google Reader Video

Posted on July 19, 2007 in Tech, Work | Leave a Comment

I’m just as excited as the next guy in finding ways to improve how I do things, or hear tips from pros, etc. However, 11 1/2 minutes of Google Reader video is about as exciting as watching paint dry.

I got suckered into actually watching the whole thing. I was waiting for some big revelation… and this is 15 minutes I won’t get back in my life - by the time I spend posting about it. Next time, please just give us the advice in the first 30 seconds, then spend the rest of the time chit-chatting on a shaky home-video that makes us dizzy.

Google Adsene for Feeds Testing

Posted on June 30, 2007 in Tech, Work | Leave a Comment

I’m testing out Adsense for Feeds on here, using the Google Adsense for Feeds WP plugin. I’m also using Feedburner, so I’m trying to see what all this does - can I break it?

If you guys see ads in the feed, you mind sending me a screenshot? I haven’t seen any yet, but I do have the code showing up correctly.

Shopping.com API Wordpress Plugin Beta

I just posted the shopping.com API plugin for wordpress. It’s a simple script (plugin) for WP that you can use to serve image advertisements as opposed to Google Adsense. Of course, you can still use the Google ads, this could just offer some additional options for revenue.

4 Hour Work Week

Posted on June 12, 2007 in Travel, Work | Leave a Comment

Man… if only! Sure, I could have a 4 hour work week but I wouldn’t be making any money. Would make me kind of like my little bro Ha ha, I still loves ya - Slacker!

The idea of winning a trip sounds cool, but that’s probably not in the cards for me. I’m too unlucky when it comes to contests. (Speaking of, I gotta figure out how to up my luck somehow. Any ideas?)
