MSN Placement for LandRoverForSale.org

Posted on January 23, 2007 in Work | Leave a Comment

Land Rover LogoI built this site a little while ago, never really did much to push it. Basically it’s for people to sell their Land Rovers, and offers some cool features like RSS feeds and email notifications for new ads - very similar to the email notification for this, my blog.

So I checked today in the stats, and see that I’ve got decent placement in MSN for the terms I was going for: Land Rover for Sale.

This is all nice and good, and some will say MSN is easy to game. Fine. I’m still happy that I gamed it very simply without really any work. But that’s all besides the point.

LandRoverForSale.org was the whole objective. I built this site for people to sell their Rovers to other Rover enthusiasts for free. That’s it. Maybe some day I’ll get a free Rover from Land Rover to drive around in as advertising or something. We can all dream, can’t we?!

Portland Late Night WiFi

Posted on January 22, 2007 in Portland WiFi | 3 Comments

I’ve been looking for a good late-night Wifi spot that isn’t smoky or a bar-only atmosphere. Tonight, I checked out Doug Fir and it’s working pretty well. Some small issues with connectivity at first, but those are sorted and I’m plugging away on stuff.

Food is good, albeit not of the healthy variety; I had a buffalo “fir burger” with salad and some ice tea. The atmosphere is cool. Sean’s going to call me a hipster after he reads this, but no matter. I just like working where there’s people around, and energy which helps me keep going, instead of dosing and being bored in front of the ‘puter.

Anyone know of other Portland WiFi spots that are open after 9pm that aren’t full on bars?

I Have Stairs. Really

Lookie here. Yeap, the stairs are in.

Now I really have stairs

Along with a the kitchen being completely demo’d other than the ceiling that needs to be pulled down. I’m actually starting to get a bit excited about this, since it’s a project for myself to live in. Still, it’s going to take forever, and it’s going to cost a pretty penny that I’m not really able to afford right now. So I may decide to wait for a while to do the expensive stuff, like the new siding, exterior paint, etc.

Snow In Portland Gives Me Road Rage

Snow In PortlandI love snow. I just can’t stand all these people who think they can drive in it, but can’t. You’re ALL wrong. Here’s why:

- 2 and 3 lane roads do not become 1 lane with you in the middle swerving back and forth because you’re afraid of parked cars, and oncoming traffic. Stay in your lane so I can get past you.

- The speed limit is not 10mph. Just park your car and walk or take the bus if you want to go that slow.

- The lights on your car work to help other people notice you in lower-than optimal visibility. Like when it’s snowing. Turn them on.

- You’re driving a Subaru. They have AWD - I know you can go faster!

- Spinning your wheels on the snow is okay. It’s a bit slippery, remember? Don’t freak out, just spin them a bit longer instead of hitting the brakes and your car will move forward.

Sean’s asked a few times lately what’s the point of us being here. Now his Twitter message says “Why are we here?”

First, why are you asking? Are you looking for a philosophical, religious, or scientific answer? Are you even looking for an answer at all?

Here’s a couple options for you, on the meaning of life.
