My buddy Steve sent this video about Gymkhana Auto Racing along to me. It’s incredible! Well worth the 5 min to watch if you’re into racing or cars. Read more…

I got this email forwarded to me from Mike, my dear Republican friend who runs First Plan CRM. Hilarious! Gotta be able to laugh at this type of stuff, no matter what your political views are.

Dear Customers and Suppliers:

As the CFO of a business that employees 140 people, I have resigned myself to the fact that Barrack Obama will be our next President, and that our taxes and government fees will increase in a BIG way. To compensate for these increases, I figure that our customers will have to see an increase in our prices of about 8%. However, since we cannot increase prices right now due to the dismal state of our economy, we will have to lay off six of our employees instead.

This has really been eating at me for a while, as we believe we are family here and I didn’t know how to choose who will have to go. So, this is what I did. I walked thru our parking lot and found 6 Obama bumper stickers on our employees’ cars and have decided these folks will be the first to be laid
off. I can’t think of a more fair way to approach this problem. These folks wanted change; I gave it to them.

If you have a better idea, let me know.

Sincerely,

CFO

Even Google isn’t immune to blog spam. Check out this post about their new Analytics features.

I counted 12 trackbacks that had nothing to do with the subject of this post, and none of them had a trackback link. Looks like some clever spammer has figured out how to use blogspot and Google’s blogs to get their own links.

Are Google’s authors of a post not notified and not watching the links that are being added? I know some people keep Google on a pedestal, but this makes me remember that they’re just a group of people who also have their shortcomings and their programs aren’t perfect. It is possible for even Google to screw something up. This just helps me to remember that it’s only worth building web sites for people and not for Google / SEO. Make it sustainable so people love it.

For all you friends of mine that have trouble reading English, I have installed a translator plugin. This wonderful ingenious piece of code uses online translation engines to automatically create a localized version of my site for you.

To take advantage of this multi-cultural and multi-national effort that I’ve put forth, all you have to do is click on a flag in the right column of any page on my site, and that page will automagically be translated into your language of choice.

Here’s a list of languages available:
English (default), Italian, Chinese, German, French ,Spanish, Japanese, Russian, Finnish, Romanian, Swedish

It does take a bit for the translation to take place, so you may get a message that a particular page has not yet been translated - this is common with new posts - but it will eventually sort itself out.

Enjoy!

I know this isn’t breaking news anymore, but I just ran across the Aptera. I love it! The design is cool, and the fact they will be putting in a hybrid model that doesn’t have range limitations is smart. $27-30k price range is reasonable too.

Just looking at this thing inspires me. Looks fun and practical, can’t wait to see one on the road.
