  • Portland Late Night WiFi

    10:14:49 pm on January 22, 2007

I’ve been looking for a good late-night Wifi spot that isn’t smoky or a bar-only atmosphere. Tonight, I checked out Doug Fir and it’s working pretty well. Some small issues with connectivity at first, but those are sorted and I’m plugging away on stuff.

Food is good, albeit not of the healthy variety; I had a buffalo “fir burger” with salad and some ice tea. The atmosphere is cool. Sean’s going to call me a hipster after he reads this, but no matter. I just like working where there’s people around, and energy which helps me keep going, instead of dosing and being bored in front of the ‘puter.

Anyone know of other Portland WiFi spots that are open after 9pm that aren’t full on bars?

I’ve been there a while back, but haven’t lately. Thanks for the suggestion - I’ll check it out again.

Actually it’s funny I read this, I think it was like, last night, I was driving down Powell and there is a [cafe] that is open past midnight on about Milwaukie and Powell. I can’t remember the name, but it’s right across Powell from “The Printer Place.”

It doesn’t look super trendy or yuppy, but it was open real late, and there were about 5 or 6 people in there on their computers.

After reading this last time I visited your blog, I decided to give it a try Tuesday (9/9) night.

The atmosphere was pretty laid back, the decor was definitely unique, but the drinks needed work. All in all, I had a decent time there and was surprised to see about 100 people there on a Tuesday.

I’m going back tonight to throw a few back. Thanks for the recommendation.
