Random Stuff for Week 41, 2008
09:03:24 pm on October 17, 2008
Some random thoughts tonight, nothing too coherent though:
- It’s Friday night at 8:44pm and I’m in bed. It feels really weird being in bed so early and I could blame it on the cold I have, but to be honest it’s kind of refreshing. I think I’ll watch some Hulu.
- I tried my first certificate from Restaurant.com. I have like 45k United airmiles and I can’t stand United so I jumped at the chance to redeem them for something useful. I haven’t done all of them yet, but for every 2000 miles you can get $100 worth of certificates. It’s not like $100 cash though, since (depending on each individual restaurant’s rules) you have to purchase more than the certificate value when you redeem. I still think it’s worth way more than a coach class ticket on the worst airline in the US.
- I voted for Forest Park in Portland to get a $50k grant. You can do it too. Hint: You can do it more than once if you use different computers and / or different IP addresses. Wasn’t such a smart way to build it, folks.
- Chris has put 50% as much effort into his blog this week as he has ever since it started. Yeah, that means he’s got the total posts to 3 now. By the way, Chris, I fixed that comment posting Ajax error.
- When I was at Dingos using my new Restaurant.com certificate this week, they had the Presidential debates on. I couldn’t hear much of it and largely didn’t pay attention because I plan to watch it online - tonight maybe. But I did notice that this group of women next to me was paying a ton of attention to it, and that the one in the hat on the left would cover her ears every time McCain spoke. Sometimes she’d cup them as in the pictures, other times it was fingers in. I half expected her to start banging her head on the bar or run out screaming. I just couldn’t help but take a picture of this because its just so juvenile, no matter who you support to not even listen to the other person/party.
